The mobile revolution

With the proliferation of smartphones and tablets it did not take long for meeting planners to discover ways to make managing events easier using these devices.
Planners use mobile apps on iPhone, Android and Windows devices to manage event check-in, share event details with attendees, conduct surveys and update attendees via text messages and more. Sadly perhaps, Blackberry seems to be losing ground to these more popular and app friendly devices. Attendees too are learning how smartphones can add to the conference experience by using their devices to check-in at conferences, communicate with other attendees, view detailed event information and updates pre and during event. There is no longer a need for unsightly poster boards and interruptive announcements from the podium.

This being the first edition of the EventInterface Resource Blog we are going to be a bit selfish and talk about the EventInterface App for iPhone and Android devices. We will highlight other tools and applications in the next editions of this blog.
The EventInterface iPhone and Android App, free to download from the Apple Store and Android Market is unique in its way of addressing both the planner and the attendee’s needs.
As an event manager you can manage your EventInterface listed events. Use the EI Easy Check-In or Ticket Scanning feature to effortlessly check-in your guests at the door right from your iPhone or Android device. Use multiple devices to facilitate checking in at multiple doors or gates. As an event manager, you can view orders, registration payment types and drill down to specific names of attendees in case questions arise at the door.
The application has been used successfully to check-in event attendees at events as small as 100 guests to as large as 28,000 attendees.” said Rod Bridges, EventInterface Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer.
Planners can promote events, list event photographs, custom event banner and event map, even allow attendees to see who else is registered.
Attendees can use the application to review event information and their purchase, view a map to the event. They can bring up their confirmations right on their device for scanning at the door.
Event attendees, sponsors and exhibitors can use the App to scan EventInterface generated nametags. There is no longer a need to collect hundreds of business cards at an event and enter them in your contacts post-event. Attendees can now scan other attendee nametags and collect contact information to be added to their device contacts. Don't worry, you have to be within a few inches from someone's nametag in order to scan it, and an attendee must have a public profile for contact information to be available.
We continue to add capabilities to our mobile aps.” said Bridges. “Within weeks our apps will provide an even more interactive experience for planners and attendees tied to the EventInterface online functions.”
